THE PENI~EL LIFE
Dear Reader,
I believe that we all have healthy habits we included as part of our "New Year's resolutions". I had some, but it's barely 21 days and I think that I'm back to default.π€§π
What are those healthy habits you planned for the year 2026? Please share in the comments so we can know and hold you accountable, if possible.
Living healthily involves a lot of lifestyle modifications. It involves practices and habits that protect and preserve the quality of life.
The World Health Organization defines healthy lifestyle as a way of living that lowers the risk of being seriously ill or dying early.
Not all diseases are preventable, but a large proportion of deaths, particularly those from coronary heart disease and lung cancer, can be avoided. This shows that your lifestyle plays a major role in preventing so many of these diseases.
Some healthy living tips include:
- Measure and Watch Your Weight: It is important to maintain a healthy weight and keep fit at all times.
- Limit Unhealthy Foods and Eat Healthy Meals: eating healthy and natural never gets out of style. Reduction in consumption of junk and other processed foods goes a long way in keeping the heart healthy.
- Drink Water and Stay Hydrated, and Limit Sugared Beverages: drink clean water whenever you are thirsty or feel dry. Water does the magic, not sugared beverages.
- Exercise Regularly and Be Physically Active: little practices like brisk walking, taking a stroll, and walking to a place instead of using a car help to keep you physically active.
- Get Enough Good Sleep: everyone needs good and sufficient sleep. Reduce screen time and relax your brain.
- Reduce Alcohol Consumption: alcohol consumption does more harm than good to your body organs. Reduce alcohol consumption and drink more water.
These are not automatic tickets to a preserved life, but they surely reduce the risk of some disease conditions.
So, Jacob in the Bible, after his encounter with the angel had his life preserved.
Genesis 32:30 NKJV
[30] So Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: “For I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.”
This verse comes after Jacob met his brother Esau, on his way back to Canaan, the land of his fathers. He had what I choose to call "The Peni-El Encounter" which gave him preservation.
While it is very good and advisable to have healthy habits that aim to promote the quality of life, it is also very important to have good spiritual habits that will preserve your life.
This year, I'd want us to embark on a dual combo healthy living journey.
This covers the physical and spiritual practices which will protect and preserve the quality of our lives.
For me, I'll try as much as possible to live this out, and I'm grateful that I have you all to keep me accountable.
I believe that we'll live healthily this year, and our dual combo journey will only get better.
Thank you for reading, and for taking care of your health.
To your all-round health, cheers π₯ π
