WOUNDED
Today's post is late and hurried, and that is because I managed to get all caught up and before I could blink, it was 11 pm already.
Dear Reader, I hope you've been well and are preparing for the Christmas celebration. Life has been coming so fast and I don't know how the days go by so quickly, but the year is almost over. I hope that you got to achieve all or most of your dreams for the year, and even if you didn't, I hope that you just live, taking one phase at a time as it comes.
Back to today's topic...
I do not love it when I get injured. The process of healing and the time it takes for the wound to heal can be a lot to handle. A patient once came to the pharmacy where I externed with a very big wound he got from an oil burn. Believe me when I say that it wasn't a pleasant sight at all. The only reason I had to attend to this man was because I was training to become a "professional", else, I'd have hurriedly left that place. The process of wound healing takes time. Some last longer than others depending on the site of injury and the intensity of the wound. According to Johns Hopkins Medicine, wound healing occurs in 4 stages;
1. Stopping the bleeding (hemostasis)
2. Inflammation
3. Growth and rebuilding (Proliferation)
4. Strengthening (Remodeling)
This might seem like an easy and straightforward process, but the body cells undergo a complex cascade of events to ensure that this is possible. Explaining the science behind this might be a bit technical so I'll try to make it as easy as possible.
The blood vessels, along with the skin cells and other important body cells come together and play important roles at certain points to ensure that bleeding stops, and new cells replace the damaged ones.
For the patient I had to attend to, the sight didn't seem pleasant, but the process of attending to him, assisting with the cleaning, giving him medications, and helping to relieve the pain made the difference.
AMP:He heals the brokenhearted, and binds up their wounds [curing their pains and their sorrows]. Psalms 147:3
Maybe we can say that wound treatment is a biblical conceptπ
. You see, wounds can come in different ways and through different incidents to different people. Some wounds can be emotional, some physical, some psychological, and even socially.
Some people get wounded and scared due to incidents that happen to them at one point or the other which caused so much pain, and sorrow. The good news is that wounds heal, and new cells replace the damaged ones.
As you read this post, I do not know where your wound came from, but I hope that every wound you've had to suffer this year heals, and that you enjoy newness despite the scar. God heals your broken pieces and binds your wounds, curing every pain and sorrow you've had to experience.
That's my message to you today, and always, dear reader. Have a blessed week aheadπ€
PS: I'm grateful for your support and consistency all along.
Hopefully, Health Talks with Diyenau will go beyond just blogging next year by the grace of God. We hope to make it a brand, expand, and introduce new concepts. Pray along with us, and give us ideas and suggestions. Thank you again!
