LUNATICK
It brought to mind the story of a desperate father who had a "Lunatick" son. In modern times, we use the word "Epilepsy", not Lunatic.
Epilepsy is a brain disease where nerve cells don’t signal properly, which causes seizures. It is a long-term (chronic) disease that causes repeated seizures due to abnormal electrical signals produced by damaged brain cells. The body has a very coordinated way of sending and receiving signals, but in the case of an epileptic patient, sudden impulses are just sent to the brain and this disrupts the normal system causing changes in emotions, feelings, and even general consciousness in the patient.
There are quite several triggers for epilepsy and they include: stress, sleep issues, dehydration, alcohol use, and specific types of food and medications (caffeine and diphenhydramine).
The main symptom of epilepsy is recurring seizures. Other signs and symptoms include: temporary loss of awareness or consciousness, blank stare or “staring into space”, temporary confusion, slowed thinking, problems with talking and understanding, changes in hearing, vision, or taste, problems talking or understanding, psychic symptoms, including fear, dread, anxiety or déjà vu.
I do not think this situation is one you would wish anybody, so the desperate father needed help for his son because he said “Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is an epileptic and he suffers terribly. For often he falls into the fire, and often into the water." ESV Matt. 17:15. This particular person throws himself into fire or water when such epileptic attacks come, and because there is no cure for epilepsy, they had exhausted all the management therapies they had without positive outcomes.
To find a permanent solution to this ailment, the father met The Master and fell at His feet, asking for help. Scripture says Jesus "rebuked" the ailment and the boy was restored to normalcy.
So you see, I am not epileptic neither am I suffering from any "mental challenge" but because I have been stressed lately I have felt like dropping out of school😂. It just makes me wonder how much pain and torture epileptic patients go through. In addition to taking anti-epileptic drugs such as Carbamazepine and Gabapentin, I strongly recommend The Master's rebuke💯.
This does not only apply to those suffering from epilepsy, it applies to any stubborn and persistent situation you might be going through. I hope that your "Rebuke" comes and that normalcy is restored.
