PLEASANT WORDS

Dear Reader,

"Pleasant words are as a honeycomb, sweet to the mind and healing to the body". Prov. 16:24 AMP

I feel like the Bible passage already explains what today's post should be all about.

It's quite interesting to know that bodily healing does not only come through medications, in fact, we always have non-pharmacological interventions or treatments for almost every disease.

Today's intervention happens to be "the use of pleasant words". No matter how macho and hardcore someone appears to be, the use of pleasant words often tends to create a form of delight and calmness.

A little research on the origin of the word "pleasant" as used in the passage shows that it was coined from the Hebrew word "Noam" which means beautiful, pleasant, and delightful. Honeycomb according to history also used to be chewed to relieve severe allergies. It was useful in treating skin wounds, and was found to contain antioxidant properties. If pleasant words are like a honeycomb, then they can surely be used to treat severe conditions.

Some Bible versions say "...sweet to the mind and healing to the BONES". A little knowledge of biology tells us that long bones in the body produce red blood cells, and blood signifies life. This implies that pleasant words bring life.

We have to note that "Pleasant words" are not necessarily "sugar-coated words", but they are truthful, kind, gracious, and delightful words spoken in a manner that carries grace to the listener. I bet you that these words truly are sweet to the mind and bring healing to the body.

As you go about your day-to-day activities, how about you decide to use more pleasant words and less harsh words? We are in times where people do not only need medicines to be healed but also pleasant words that carry grace.

Ponder on every word contained here, and try to apply it wherever you find yourself. Remain blessed, dear reader.

PS: I can promise you that writing is not as easy as it seems it is. I had to type and cancel a lot of times before coming up with this post today. Please support and encourage every writer you know.

We'll have to address their situation very soon. But since it's unknowingly, maybe it's not their intention so we can forgive themπŸ˜‰
