FEVER-ISH
It has been a while on the blog and I can't say if I'm fully back but I have a little message for a "fever-ish" human.
A few weeks back, I was down with malaria. It has been quite a while since I treated malaria so long before now, I always had the feeling that I was going to come down with malaria knowing fully well that I have been quite stressed since I resumed back to school, and stress is one of the triggers to fever and by extension, malaria. Before I ran some tests to confirm what was wrong, I was down with a "fever". I was so cold that even while I wrapped myself in a thick blanket, I kept shivering. Occasionally, I'd feel hot and restless but immediately I unwrapped myself, the chills were back like they never left. Such temperature swings!
Fever is a rise in body temperature, higher than the normal 37°C. This is when the body temperature is consistently over 38°C. It can be a health condition or an indication of another condition that might be present. It can be the body's mechanism to fight any invading microorganism.
Some signs and symptoms of fever include fatigue, chills, shivering, paleness, tachycardia, and sweating. Some causes of fever are bacterial infections, viral infections, autoimmune diseases, side effects of certain drugs, or increased metabolism.
While the fever lasted, I didn't find it easy because it restricted me and kept me down mostly being unproductive. That reminded me of the story of Peter's mother-in-law who was down with a fever before Jesus came to visit. Luke 4:38-39 "And he arose out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon's house. And Simon's wife's mother was taken with a great fever, and they besought him for her. And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever, and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered unto them." KJV
The term "great fever" highlighted above shows that the fever she suffered from was not normal. In Jesus's time, fever was seen as a disease so it isn't wrong to say that she suffered from a great disease. In this case, she didn't have to use any NSAIDS or antipyretic to get healed. Fever is usually self-limiting which means that it can be controlled by the body without any external intervention but when it is a "great fever", it can be cured by Words from Jesus.
I'm not here to say that I didn't take drugs for mine, I did but while at it, I also relied on the same words that were used to heal the great fever I read about and that made my healing easier and faster.
Dear Reader, the cure to your fever is not only in your medication but in the powerful words that heal great fevers. Those words are contained in Scripture and the earlier you check them out for yourself, the best for you. If you need recommendations, say a word in the comment section and all of us will provide as many as possible.
It has been a great pleasure writing today and I hope that your "great fever" relieves you immediately after you read today's blog post.
Have a blessed December and stay free from fever!
