SETTLED BILLS
Happy September, dear Reader🤗
It's been a while, and it felt as though I had been gone for a year. How have you been these three weeks?
You know how hard our country is becoming, and how difficult life has become for a lot of people right? I realized that so many people do not go to the hospitals anymore because they cannot afford to pay their bills. Some are diagnosed with very severe conditions, and they do not have enough money to keep up with their treatments. As a result, we have so many people who abuse analgesics, or what we popularly call "pain killers".
Imagine that you walk into a pharmacy to get some drugs after seeing the doctor, and after the drugs are being dispensed you are not able to pay the bill and as a result, you run into debt. Won't you just ask for PCM instead? Let the pain just subside for now then you'll know what to do subsequently. Or imagine that you rush a patient to the hospital and in your thinking, "nothing much" is done to that patient but the bill you see afterward makes you know that you just acquired a debt. Do you think you'll like to go back next time?
How about you go to a pharmacy to purchase drugs and then you are told that someone paid for the drugs and settled your debt even before you arrived? Or after rushing to the hospital, you are informed that your hospital bill was paid for and all your debt cleared even before you arrived.
Well, that is exactly what Jesus Christ did to mankind. Colossians 2:14 "by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with it's legal demands..."ESV. I tried to fully understand what Christ did, but it didn't make so much sense. I could only liken it to the fact that he knew beforehand that Nigeria was going to get to this point, and that we'd fall sick and need to pay bills, and since he has so much money, he paid ahead of time. Just that in the real sense of it, he did not go to a physical hospital or pharmacy. He went to the cross.
I understand that He is so rich and abundant in love and he knows that sin is something that I have inherited so to prevent any debt, he died on the cross and paid for every single thing. Yes, he settled the bill and cleared the debt making us debt-free.
You know Christ didn't just clear our debt, he went to court and cleared every charge that was brought up against us. I know that cases are not won in court based on what the lawyer knows, but based on the facts and evidence(s) provided. We didn't have to go the extra mile, because Christ did everything on our behalf.
I don't know how you feel today, or how worried you are about Nigeria and her challenges, I just hope that you remember that your past, present, and future bills have been settled!
