GOOD MEDICINE
Dear Reader,
Today happens to be one of those Wednesdays where you're totally engaged and you somehow do not manage to have time to write until it's late in the night, but it's still Wednesday so there's still a chance to come up with something.
Before I continue, how are you doing? I hope that you're fine, hale and hearty. And if you have by chance been on medications, I hope that you are faithful in taking them.
About medicines and medications, a lot of times when we fall sick we quickly try to see a doctor, or visit a nearby pharmacy to get medications or what we call "medicines". The dictionary defines medicine as 'a substance which promotes healing when ingested or consumed in some way'. It can also be seen as 'something that treats or alleviates the symptoms of disease'. It means that medicines are quite important factors in healing, and it is therefore important that we take medicines when we are sick.
It is worth noting though, that some people like me do not like medicines. I'd rather have you inject me than swallow anything down my throat๐คฎ. Other people do not want to take medicines, neither will they want to get injected. I don't know what to say of such persons, but they need serious prayers๐ .
Here's the good news! A merry heart does good like medicine.... Prov. 17:22a NKJV. It means that we just might have something for people who do not like medicines or injections. We can recommend a Merry Heart. Scripture says that a merry heart does good like medicine which implies that a merry or joyful heart can alleviate the symptoms of disease. A merry heart also promotes healing and general well-being. This scripture just reinstates the mind's powerful influence over the body and the fact that a cheerful heart enables us to resist the attacks of physical disease.
We might not then be wrong to prescribe and dispense large doses of "merry hearts" as good medicines to people who might be sick. Doing that only means that we'll have an alternative means of enhancing healing without necessarily having people swallow medicines or receive injections, and that's perfect for me and others like myself.
So when next you stop by the pharmacy or visit the doctor, I hope that you also remember that apart from your medicine, a merry heart also has just as much therapeutic effect, and that it works as much or even better than your medicine. This does not in any way give you the right to stop taking your medicines or to reject them when dispensed to you, it just means that medicines + merry hearts = greater and faster healing.
Till we see again next time, ensure that you take your medicines, but remember that I'd recommend a merry heart to add to it for better efficacy. Stay joyful!

I'm of the type that likes to be injected over medicines๐ .
ReplyDeleteI therefore go for injections+ merry heart ๐

When you spoke about the people who neither like medicines or injections, I called my name and said "you're the one that's been referred to"๐. I can bear witness to the fact that sometimes having a merry heart relieves the symptoms of illness, especially when those symptoms have been physical manifestation of heartache in the first place.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for this piece Ma'am.
